Warren W. Lilley, 90, of 2620 32nd Street North, Wisconsin Rapids, died Friday, July 29, 2011, at Strawberry Lane Medical Center.
A graveside service for the immediate family will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3rd at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Warren was born December 1, 1920 in Dexterville to William and Clara (Rebensdorf) Lilley. His first marriage ended in divorce. He married Dawnene Frye on October 13, 1951 in Wisconsin Rapids.
He served his country in the United States Army during World War II from 1942-1945. He was a radio operator with the 47th Field Artillery and was part of the Invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge.
He worked for a local cranberry marsh and in construction and helped build the Castle Rock Dam. He later worked for Consolidated Papers Inc. as a materials handler in the Wisconsin Rapids Division, and retired in 1984 after 36 years of service.
Warren loved to fish, especially for musky and trout. He liked to spend time working in his yard, digging his pond. In retirement, he enjoyed trips to the local casinos.
He is survived by his wife, Dawnene of Wisconsin Rapids; two sons: Jeffrey and Carl Lilley of Wisconsin Rapids; four daughters: Brenda (Charles) Galeles, Ann Lilley, and Veronica “Sue” Hagan all of Wisconsin Rapids, and Charmaine (Robert) Kramer of Plover; one brother, Clifford (Helen) Lilley of Lakeside, California; three sister-in-laws: Nancy Mortimer and Sandra Young of Wisconsin Rapids, and Neva Shore of Westby; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ray; son-in-law, Ken Hagan; two brother-in-laws, Don Shore and Howard Young; and one sister-in-law, Hilda Lilley.
A memorial will be established by the family at a later date.
