Obituary of Elinor Jean Bangstad

Elinor Jean Bangstad, 65, 1143 Czech Pass, Friendship, Wisconsin died August 9, 2011 at her residence.

Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, August 19, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids.  Rev. Timothy Wenger will officiate.  

Elinor was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on May 21, 1946 to Herbert and Geneva (Knudson) Wunderlich.  Her marriage to Tom Beversdorf ended in divorce.  She married Gary Bangstad on June 3, 2000 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevens Point.

Elinor was a high school English teacher for the Adams school district the majority of her working career.  She also taught at Nekoosa High School.

Elinor had a strong faith and regularly witnessed to people – especially during her last days.  She loved music and sang in church choirs and her husband’s choirs. She also directed children in Sunday school music ever since her college days. Finally, she she was an avid gardener and spent many happy days tending her beautiful garden.

Elinor is survived by her husband, Gary; 3 children: Matthew (Rachael) of Minneapolis, Andrew (Mariana) of Madison, and Laurel (Nathan) of New York City; 3 grandchildren: Ana Maria, Andres, and Diego; 5 sisters: Ellen (Don) Misch, St. Charles, Il, Elaine (John) Brimmer , New Bern, North Carolina, Elizabeth (Roger) Stowell, Combined Locks, WI, Elda (Neil) Ridenour, Colorado Springs and Elora (Scott) Hirssig, Rochester, MN; 1 brother, Warren (Lynn) Wunderlich of St. Peter, MN.

Friends may call at the church from 9:30 until the time of services on Friday.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.

Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
