Obituary of Janice F. Savagian

On this August 13, 2011, the Lord called Janice F. Savagian home.

Jan is survived by her husband, John and their five children: Barbara (Armando Bras), Catherine (Ali Anwar Jr.), John (Diane Grace), David, and Andrew (Jenifer Joslin), and nine grandchildren: Gina (Doug Kaisler), Ali, Raphael, Jamal, Alejandro, Amanda, Kamilah, Elena, and Dana.

Jan was a 1950 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She taught English at South Milwaukee High School for over 30 years.  Upon her retirement, she served as a long-time leader of the Ladies Group of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and volunteered for numerous charity organizations.

Jan loved to sing and was an alto in the church choir. Jan was an avid reader and a member of al local book club. She loved to play golf and was proud to be a member of the hole-in-one club.  Her love of sports was legendary and she was the ultimate Packer, Badger, and Brewer fan. She also played bridge with several clubs in the Rome area.

There will be a memorial service at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date at Garden Bluff Cemetery in Lodi.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society in Jan’s name are appreciated.
