Port schools to host orientation event

Port Edwards Schools will host a back-to-school night on Aug. 30. This evening is not just for students that are new to the district, it is important that all students and their parents attend this orientation. In addition, the student council will be serving a free cookout meal in the cafeterias at both the elementary building and the middle/high school starting at 5 p.m.

The elementary school will have two 45-minute orientation sessions held in the classrooms at 4 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Parents with multiple students will be able to attend a session with each of their child’s homeroom teachers. The school will be open until 6 p.m.

John Edwards High School students will report to the bus lobby area between 5:15 p.m. and 6 p.m. for packet distribution and will meet in the large gym at 5:45 for a welcome back presentation. Classroom visitations will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

John Edwards Middle School students will report to the JEMS Resource Room at 5:45 p.m. for packet distribution and welcome back presentations. Classroom visitations will run from 6:45 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The 4-Year-Old Kindergarten families are invited to an open house at the 4K classroom at the YMCA between the hours of 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 30, also. Parents and students may visit the classroom and meet the staff.

Students at all grade levels are encouraged to bring their school supplies with them Aug. 30.
