United Way set to kick off annual fundraising campaign

The United Way of Inner Wisconsin campaign will begin Sept. 1, and continue until Oct. 31.  In 2012, United Way of Inner Wisconsin will be funding 45 programs at 29 local agencies. Dollars to support those programs will be raised this fall.

There are a number of ways you can support United Way of Inner Wisconsin during campaign time.

The Workplace Campaign

Most dollars for United Way are raised during workplace campaigns. As the economy continues to struggle and workforces are reduced, the need in our local area is even greater than ever before. United Way is looking for more local businesses to hold first-time campaigns and work together to make our community a better place for all of our residents.

To begin a first-time United Way campaign, or learn how having a campaign can benefit your business or organization, contact the United Way office at 715-421-0390, send an email to angie@uwiw.org, or visit www.uwiw.org.

Small Business Phone-a-Thon

Organizations who do not hold a United Way campaign can still participate through our Small Business Phone-a-Thon on Sept. 15. Volunteers will be contacting local small businesses and asking them to make a corporate contribution. Call our office at715-421-0390 for more information.

Donate as an individual

Individuals who do not have access to a workplace campaign can still give to United Way of Inner Wisconsin.

  1. You can visit www.uwiw.org and click on “Give.” You can download a pledge card, or make an online donation using your credit card.
  2. You can also call the United Way of Inner Wisconsin to be added to one of our mailings.
  3. We especially invite retirees who supported United Way through the workplace campaign to contact us and update their contact information.

Special Events

You can also support United Way of Inner Wisconsin by participating in our special events!

  1. “Back to Football Friday” will be Sept. 9. We are asking local businesses to allow their employees to wear their favorite NFL clothing with jeans for a $5 donation to United Way of Inner Wisconsin. 2. We will be holding a brat fry on Sept. 17,  from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Quality Foods IGA on West Grand Ave.
  3. United Way Day at McDonald’s will be Oct. 12 at the Wisconsin Rapids McDonald’s restaurant from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit United Way of Inner Wisconsin.  Please join us for breakfast, lunch, dinner and lots of in-between snacks.
