The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department are accepting applications for the Citizen’s Police Academy.
The academy is ten weeks long and meets every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. beginning Sept. 28. Participants have the opportunity to drive a squad car, shoot police issued weapons, observe a demonstration from the Special Response Team and learn about sensitive crimes and drug investigations.
Over 300 citizens have graduated since the police department started the program.
The application deadline is Sept. 16 and applicants must be 21-years-old or older. The class is limited to 15 students.
