Art exhibit to open
Fragments of Time, an exhibit showcasing Mayan art, will open Sept. 30 at the Central Wisconsin Cultural Center, 240 Johnson St., Wisconsin Rapids.
The exhibit, which opens at 5 p.m. till 7 p.m., is in concert with Hispanic Awareness month and will feature extensive art collection of fragments inspired by ancient Mayan temples, authentic pottery shards from Templo Mayor of Cempoala, Veracruz archaeological site and Hispanic story quilts that speak without words by telling a message of struggle, strength and perseverance.
The exhibit will run from its opening to Nov. 18.
Along with the art, multi-media artists Lilas Smith, fiber artist Beatriz Jimenez and watercolor artist Betty Brush will be at the exhibit to greet visitors.
