Harry James Mitchell age 63, of Pembine, WI, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital in Madison.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM. Saturday at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa WI. Rev. Dan Frye will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 – 11 AM. Memorials may be designated to the charity of your choice in memory of Harry.
Harry was born October 28, 1947 in Wisconsin Rapids to Harry and Laura (Griffin) Mitchell. He attended Madison Area Technical College, then worked in many restaurants before opening the Nekoosa Café. Thereafter he worked at a Community Based Residential Facility for the developmentally disabled in Bangor, WI and for the last 12 years an associate at Wal-Mart in Iron Mountain, MI
His interests included reading, sewing, knitting, crocheting and baking.
He is survived by: one niece: Jane (Curtis Mashburn) Macha of Knoxville, TN and her son Anthony Mashburn of Knoxville, TN
One nephew: Frank (Val Holzman) Macha of Pembine, WI and their children: Laura Macha of Knoxville, TN, Leah, Liza, and Kenneth Macha of Wausaukee, WI
Dear friends that span several decades: Bruce Meinholz, Pembine, WI Robert Sommerfeldt, Pat Brenz, Suzie Laluzerne and CeCe Banks all of Madison, WI, Mary (Harry) Pier, Amarillo, TX Diane Anderson, Ogema, WI and his third cousin Theresa Ortscheid, Wisconsin Rapids, WI
Harry is further survived by many other Aunts, Uncles, cousins, friends and work associates he turned into great friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lois Jean Erickson, and Caroline Reed.
Harry’s family thanks Dr. Linn, Dr. Vice, Dr Gnadt, Dr. Sievers his nurses who treated him as part of their family, Carol, Karen, Rose, Teri all the staff at Columbia St. Mary’s Burn ICU in Milwaukee. We took comfort in knowing how many angels surrounded our Harry during his courageous 11 month battle.
