Obituary of Harold A. Thurber

Harold A. Thurber, age 80, of 7911 Whitrock Avenue, Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

There will be a private family service at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI with graveside services following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Harold was born January 13, 1931 in the Town of Jackson, Adams County, WI to Charles and Della Mae (Foster) Thurber. His first marriage to Mary Pegelow ended in divorce. He married Linda Bielmeier on June 2, 1972.

Harold served in the U.S. Army for two years with occupation in Europe and served in the Army reserve for 4 years. Harold was employed for 1 1/2 years at Preway and from 40 years for Nekoosa Papers Inc. (Georgia Pacific) retiring in 1992 as a machine tender. He was a Webelos leader with the Kellner Boy Scouts.  Harold enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing, was an avid gun collector and always enjoyed his time with his grandchildren.

Harold is survived by his wife, Linda; four sons, Jamie (Bobbi) Thurber, Dennis Thurber, Douglas (Angie) Thurber and Allen (Tiger) Thurber; three stepsons, James (Cathy) Bielmeier, John (Sheila) Bielmeier, and Jake (Tamme) Bielmeier and one stepdaughter, Janelle (Mike) Ales. He is also survived by 51 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
