Kenneth W. “Skip” Momsen Sr., age 81, of 1313 Eagle Trail, Town of Rome (Nekoosa), Adams County, WI died Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Ministry St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield, WI.
Celebration of Ken’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Lake Arrowhead Clubhouse in the Town of Rome.
Ken was born March 25, 1930 in Milwaukee, WI to Gerald and Lucille (DeForest) Momsen. His marriage to Janet Rogge in 1952 ended in divorce. He married Elaine Wheeler Farnham in 1988. Ken was owner and operator of Momsen Photography/The Dark Room in Menomonee Falls, WI and later was employed at Vanier Graphics.
Ken served in the U.S. Army from 1948-1952. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and involved in AAU swimming.
Ken was a kind and gentle man with a quick wit to ease all situations. He faced adversity with steady confidence. He kept his camera handy and skillfully recorded special moments for family and friends. He loved golf and sheepshead and the odd assortment of folk who play those games.
Ken is survived by his wife, Elaine; four children, Susan Momsen of LaGrange, IL, Lynn Momsen-Wymelenberg of Reston, VA, Karen (Andy) Momsen-Evers of Germantown, WI, and Kenneth Momsen Jr. of Germantown, WI; three step-children, Sara (Richard) Farnham-Girton of Honolulu, HI, Daniel (Catherine Crandall) Farnham of St. Paul, MN and Beth (Chris) Peske of Sussex, WI; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Ken is also survived by two brothers, Robert (Jeanne) Momsen of Waukesha, WI and Bruce (Linda) Momsen of Hillsborough, North Carolina; brother-in-law, Mark Dybdahl of Port Washington, WI and many nieces, nephews and other family.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Eileen, brother, Donald and sister, Ellen.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to the UW Cancer Center-Riverview at 410 Dewey Street, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494.
