Teen leaders seek grant proposals

Greater South Wood County Teen Leadership, one of only three teen leadership programs in Wisconsin, offers a unique grant opportunity for local, community-based organizations.

A $2,000 grant is available to assist with the enhancement or start-up of teen-serving programs. In recent surveys conducted by members of the Greater South Wood County Teen Leadership Program, the programs identified as most helpful in addressing current teen issues included:

  1. “Real life” learning experiences or career preparation
  2. Outdoor experiences, camps or challenging courses
  3. Competitive sports (not school-based)

Community-based organizations may apply for this grant. The program must benefit teens in greater South Wood County. The Teen Leadership program values projects that advance the values of civility, generosity, cooperation, awareness, ability, innovation, empowerment, equity and inclusion.

Grant applications must be received by the Community Foundation by 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 15. Decisions will be announced in March 2012. Download an application form online at www.cfswc.org, by calling 715-423-3863, or by stopping at the Community Foundation, 478 E. Grand Ave., Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494.
