The Wisconsin Department of Transportation listed the following highways in the area as still “snow covered” as of 10:55 a.m. Nov. 9:
*Highway 13 – From Wisconsin Rapids to Abbotsford
*Highway 13 – From Wisconsin Dells to Wisconsin Rapids
*Highway 10 – From Stevens Point to Marshfield
As of this posting, no accidents have been reported on any state highways or interstates in Wood County.
The National Weather Service in Green Bay advises Wood County will be under a winter storm warning until 6 p.m. today with the total accumulation of 5 to 8 inches of snow expected.
While the snow may diminish as early as mid-afternoon, the weather service cautions it is wet and heavy snow which will make travel hazardous.
The Accuweather forecast currently has the temperature in Wisconsin Rapids at 35-degrees with winds coming from the North-Northwest up to 18 miles per hour.
The DOT urges drivers to drive defensively and carefully.
