Training program for voter registration

You are invited to a public training to be registered as a SPECIAL REGISTRATION DEPUTY in Multiple municipalities across Wood County.

WHO SHOULD COME? Anyone who wishes to register voters in municipalities located in Wood County, WI. If you wish to be appointed as a Special Registration Deputy (SRD) for the purpose of registering electors of multiple municipalities within Wood County during periods of open voter registration for the 2012 Election year, you must complete this (or another) qualified training session before you can be appointed.

WHEN IS IT? Wednesday, December 14, 2011  6:00 p.m.

WHERE IS IT? Town of Wood Hall, 8210 Main Street, Pittsville, WI  

By attending this training, you will be able to register voters who reside in the municipalities who you receive an appointment from.  Those available Wood County Municipal Clerks will be on hand to administer the Oath of Office to those eligible and who complete the training.

Important Information about Special Registration Deputies:

You are eligible to be a Special Registration Deputy IF you are a qualified elector.  

  1. Qualified electors are U.S citizens, age 18 or older, have lived in Wisconsin for at least 28 days, and have not been disqualified to vote in Wisconsin.  
  2. No person may compensate a person who obtains voter registration forms from other persons based on a rate that varies relative to the number of registrations obtained. Anyone who violates this provision may be fined up to $1,000 or imprisoned for up to six months, or both.
  3. Special Registration Deputies must print and sign their names on all registration forms.
  4. All registration forms accepted by Special Registration Deputies are subject to a postcard audit.
  5. Special Registration Deputies cannot register voters when registration is closed, from the third Wednesday (20 days) before the election, through Election Day. When registration is closed, voters may only register in the Municipal Clerk’s Office, at the polls on Election Day, or as a hospitalized elector.
