Bridget Chariton has been selected as the executive director for the South Wood County Humane Society.
Chariton, a Wisconsin Rapids native, holds bachelor’s degrees in human development and psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
She has worked as the community resources officer for the Community Foundation of Greater South Wood County for the past six months, managing the Teen Leadership program, Speak Your Peace, and resources for area nonprofits, as well as supporting the grant-making process. Prior to this time, she worked with the Arthritis Foundation Northeastern District.
Chariton has participated in the Heart of Wisconsin Community Leadership Program and also volunteers as the Administrator for SWCHS’s Facebook page.
She replaces Phil Hartley, who accepted a position as the Director of Business Development for the Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce.
Chariton begins her position with the shelter Jan. 2, 2012.
