Al Fisa, 66, of Wisconsin Rapids, died January 4, 2012 at Riverview Hospital with his family at his side following a courageous battle with cancer.
Al was born October 20, 1945 in Racine to June (Smith) and the late Jerry Fisa. Al and his family moved to Pittsville as a child. He married Elaine Sands on November 9, 1968 in Racine and they moved to Wisconsin Rapids.
Al joined the Naval Reserve while in high school and upon graduation from Pittsville High School he completed his active duty as a machinist mate aboard the U.S.S. Strong. Upon returning home he worked at Vulcan Materials (formally BASF Wyandotte) until his retirement in 2005.
Al was an avid hunter. He especially enjoyed spending time in the woods just checking out his deer country. Throughout his life he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, boating, camping and puttering in the yard while feeding “his buddies”, the squirrels. He and Elaine loved to travel together. Al was also an avid reader and he could always be found with a book or two close by. Most important was spending time with his family.
