It’s that time of year again to sign your child up for Wisconsin Rapids Recreational Soccer. Players must be at least 5 years old and younger than 18 on or before May 19.
WIAA rules prohibit junior and senior high school students from playing on both a school team and a recreational team at the same time. Online and mail in registrations are available from Feb. 1 to Feb. 14. Online registration and forms for mail in are available at www.wisconsinrapidssoccer.com.
Walk-In registration is Feb. 9 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rapids Mall in the atrium. The cost of registration is $15 per child.
There are volunteer hours that accompany having your child participate. You can either complete the two hours of volunteer work per family (not per child) or you can pay a buyout fee of $35 per family. Volunteer opportunities include referee advocates, referee desk assistant, field set up, field take down, concessions, coach and assistance coach, coaches packets, typist, division commissioner and board member.
You can also sign up to volunteer at soccer sign-ups for the next season, which will be in the fall. We are collecting gently used soccer t-shirts and soccer balls for a mission in Haiti. These are being collected at the walk-in registration and the UPS store in Wisconsin Rapids.
